Brushes and Brush Settings

Master the brush and eraser tools in Repaper Studio.

Updated over a month ago

Brushes

Repaper Studio features six distinct brushes and an eraser tool to enhance your creative projects.

Each digital drawing tool replicates the characteristics of its analog counterpart. For example, the pencil tool can be customized for hardness, the felt tool enables calligraphy effects with its felted tip, and both the chalk tool and the airbrush create a textured finish.

You can switch between tools with just one click.

Brush Settings

You can customize the settings for each drawing tool, including the eraser tool. To modify a brush's behavior, select it from the toolbox and click on it again to access its settings.

Your brush settings will be saved, even when you exit the application.

  • Size: Adjust the stroke width (between 0.10 mm and 15 mm, depending on the selected tool).

  • Opacity: Control the transparency of your tool for varying levels of opacity.

  • Stroke Smoothing: Reduces roughness and jagged edges in lines. A higher level of smoothing creates very smooth lines, while lower levels retain more natural imperfections in the stroke.

  • Speed Sensitivity: This feature allows you to replicate the pressure applied to your drawing tool based on speed. The faster you draw on your surface, the thinner and more defined your lines will appear on the screen.

  • Hardness: Available only for the pencil tool, this setting lets you choose from five tips with varying levels of hardness. A harder tip produces finer, more precise lines but results in a less pronounced black color.

  • Pressure: This setting is exclusive to Repaper. The harder you press on the active area with your drawing tool, the thicker the lines will appear in Repaper Studio.

  • 3D Cursor: This setting is specific to the pen and pencil tools in Repaper Studio. If enabled, the default cursor transforms into a virtual 3D pencil.

Tips for ISKN tablet users

Erasing

When using an ISKN tablet, you have two main possibilities to erase:

  • You can use a classic eraser on your paper drawing and then use the eraser tool in our Repaper Studio App to erase on your digital drawing.

  • Or you can use an eraser-tip pencil and equip it with iskn Ring while selecting the eraser tool in the app. This way, you'll erase simultaneously on both drawings: the digital and the paper one.

Additionally, iskn tablets also function as classic graphics tablets, allowing you to erase with the iskn stylus on your digital drawing.

Airbrush Tool

The Airbrush tool is a 3D paint spray that allows you to effortlessly color large surfaces and create textured effects. Its full potential is unlocked when used with the iskn tablet, where the distance of your drawing tool from the paper controls the size and opacity of the airbrush effect without direct contact.

How to use it:

  1. Select the Airbrush tool in Repaper Studio.

  2. Hover your drawing tool over the surface of the iskn tablet until a pop-up appears.

  3. Follow the instructions and press one of the buttons on your iskn tablet to apply your color. The further your drawing tool is from the tablet, the larger the Airbrush paint diameter, as indicated by the cursor size on the screen.

  4. To stop applying color, press any button on your iskn tablet.
